About
After the dissolution of his decade-long band, Antonio Pérez-Coca embarked on a solo career in April 2019. Inspired by his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, he chose the name Astro Fonda and started releasing singles like “If I Was a Bird,” “Libélula,” “Tannhauser,” and “Constellations & Illusions”. However, the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 marked a turning point. Astro’s waning connection to music led him to contemplate quitting, prompting a two-year journey of deep introspection, delving into meditation and studying ancient and modern spiritual traditions to explore the nature of consciousness and reality.
During this transformative period, Astro realized that music was an inseparable part of his identity and reignited his passion for it. He received a scholarship to study songwriting at Berklee College of Music in January 2022 and, after completing three semesters, his love for music has never been stronger. Now, Astro’s vision for himself and his art could be condensed in the statement:
“Restoring the sacred – Truth, Love and Beauty – in me and my community through music, visual arts and poetry.”
His creations now reflect the awe, love, peace, and joy he has discovered along this path, and he anticipates that new music will arrive in due time to express all of this, overshadowing all his previous works.
